Packing Tips for Storage
Depending on what you’re storing, you’re going to need different ways to pack your belongings. If you’re storing things long term that you won’t need access to, just load up the storage unit with as many boxes as you can, in any order you fancy. It won’t matter, as long as you really don’t need to get to anything. Otherwise, make sure you load things into the unit in a sensible manner, with most commonly needed items nearest to the door, and a pathway through your belongings for easy access.
Make sure that your boxes are all labelled, and not just with ‘miscellaneous’ for every box. You may be tempted to shove everything into random boxes, but when it comes to finding anything, or even unboxing it all at the other end, you’ll seriously regret this. Pack like with like and make sure that each box is labelled accurately. You can take pictures of the contents of each box and tape them to the sides. This will make it even easier to locate what you need.
Invest in High Quality Packing Supplies
Make sure all your boxes are of high quality, like the ones in the box shop at Bedfordshire Storage. Ensure you’re not using ones that are split or have been used too many times before. You should never use plastic bags to protect your items. Tempting as it may be to try to recycle the stash from under the stairs. They will likely rip and can also attract mildew.
Make sure you take down all furniture that comes apart. This will ensure that you’re not paying for too much storage space. Keep all the screws and similar in a plastic sandwich bag and tape it to the biggest piece. That way you won’t lose them and end up in a pickle.
If the above tips have put you off packing yourself, our expert packers can handle it all for you. All you will have to do is tell them what needs packing and where your storage unit is. They’ll take care of everything from the packing to the loading to the storing, giving you peace of mind.
